Terms of service
Effective October 25, 2026
Draft: this page is waiting for legal review, and details in [brackets] are still to be filled in. The rules it describes are the ones Aventix applies today.
Aventix is a place to sell, buy and use tickets to live events. These terms are the agreement between you and [legal entity name] ("Aventix", "we", "us") when you use the Aventix website, apps, widgets and API (together, "Aventix"). Sections 16 to 19 apply only to organizers.
Our refund policy and privacy policy are part of these terms. We've tried to write them plainly. Where a rule has a number, it's the number Aventix actually applies.
1. This agreement
- By creating an account, buying or holding a ticket, or running events on Aventix, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use Aventix.
- You must be at least 13 to create an account. To buy tickets you must be an adult where you live, or have a parent or guardian's permission to use their payment method. Some events have their own age limits, set by the organizer.
- If you use Aventix for a business or organization, you agree for it, and confirm you're allowed to.
- Who sells the ticket. Events are run by their organizers, not by us. When you buy, you buy from the organizer; Aventix sells on their behalf, takes the payment (it appears as Aventix on your statement), delivers the ticket and pays the organizer. The organizer is responsible for the event itself: holding it, what it includes, the venue, and its admission rules.
2. Your account
- You sign in with a passkey (Face ID, fingerprint, a device PIN or a password manager) or a one-time code sent to your email. Keep your devices and email account secure: anyone who can get into them can get into Aventix as you.
- One person per account. Give a real email address you can receive codes and tickets at.
- Tell us straight away at Help if you think someone else has used your account. You're responsible for what happens in your account until you tell us.
- You can buy without an account. Your order is then linked to your email address and to the browser you used.
3. Buying tickets
- Checkout. Seats are held while you pay, for the time shown at checkout. Your order is complete only when your payment succeeds and we confirm it. Until then, the seats may be released.
- Limits. Each event has a limit on tickets per person (usually 8, at most 50), and at most 10 tickets per order. The limit counts every order by you, including orders under other email addresses that are yours, tickets from the exchange, and orders paid with the same card. An order that goes over it is cancelled and refunded in full.
- Waiting rooms. For busy on-sales, you may join a line before checkout. Everyone who joins before the sale opens gets a random place, so arriving at the last second doesn't help; later arrivals join in order. Your turn lets you check out for a limited time and a limited number of attempts; it doesn't guarantee tickets.
- Mistakes. If a ticket is listed at a clearly wrong price because of an error, we may cancel the order and refund you in full, even after it's confirmed. We'll tell you why.
- Fraud. We may cancel and refund orders we reasonably believe are fraudulent, use someone else's payment method, or break these terms.
4. Prices and fees
- All-in prices. The price we show includes every fee, before you start checkout. There is no separate processing or service charge.
- Our fee on a paid ticket is 5% of the ticket price + $0.49 per ticket for tickets of $100.00 or less, and 4.9% + $0.59 per ticket above that. Card processing is included. Free tickets have no fee. Some organizers pay the fee for you, in which case you pay the ticket price only.
- Events sell in USD. Your bank may charge its own fees for paying in another currency.
- Prices include any taxes the organizer has included. Organizers are responsible for taxes on their tickets.
5. Your tickets
- What a ticket is. A ticket is a revocable license to attend the event, under the organizer's admission rules and the venue's rules. It isn't property, and it's for personal use.
- Getting in. Your ticket is in your account, in the app, and optionally in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, or on an NFC wristband. Its QR code changes every few seconds, so screenshots and copies don't work. Show it from the app or your wallet.
- How we keep tickets unique. Each ticket is also recorded as a digital token on a public blockchain, held by Aventix on your behalf. It records that the ticket exists and its history, not your name or email. You don't need a crypto wallet, can't withdraw it, and it has no value outside Aventix. It's simply how we make sure a ticket can't be duplicated or forged.
- When tickets stop working. A ticket stops working when it's refunded, sold on the exchange, transferred, or when its order is cancelled under these terms (including a payment plan cancelled for missed payments, or a chargeback decided in the buyer's favor). The organizer or venue may refuse entry or remove you under their rules, without a refund unless their rules or the law say otherwise.
- Resale outside Aventix. Use our exchange to sell tickets. Where the law allows, organizers may cancel tickets resold elsewhere above face value. We never stop you transferring a ticket where the law requires transfers to be allowed.
6. Transfers
- You can send a ticket to anyone by email, free. They accept it in their account. Once accepted, it's theirs, with new credentials, and yours stops working.
- Organizers can turn transfers off for an event, except at venues in states whose laws require them to be allowed.
- A transfer moves the ticket, not the payment. Refunds always go to whoever paid. You can't transfer a ticket that's listed on the exchange, or on a payment plan that isn't paid in full.
7. The face-value exchange
If you can't go, you can sell your ticket to another fan at the price you paid, never more.
- Listing. The person who bought a ticket can list it, until the event starts, if it hasn't been used. While it's listed, it can't be used, transferred or refunded. You can take it back unless someone is checking out with it.
- The waitlist and the draw. Once an event sells out, fans can join its waitlist for 1 to 4 tickets bought together. Returned tickets are offered to waiting fans drawn at random: joining first or refreshing faster doesn't help. A drawn fan has 30 minutes to buy the whole set offered; if they don't, it goes back in the draw. Joining needs room under the event's per-person limit for every ticket.
- The open market. When nobody waiting could take the tickets listed, any signed-in fan can buy up to 4, first come, and they're held for 10 minutes during checkout.
- Prices. The buyer pays the ticket's face value (what the seller paid for it, never more than the event's price) plus our usual fee. There is no fee to sell.
- Getting paid. The seller is refunded the face value, minus any seller fee, to the card they paid with, only once the buyer's payment has gone through. The seller's original fee isn't returned. At that moment the ticket moves to the buyer with new credentials.
- If a sale falls through. If a ticket stops being available while a buyer pays (for example, the event is cancelled), nothing is delivered and the buyer is refunded in full automatically.
- Not everything can be sold on the exchange: tickets received by transfer, tickets from group purchases, tickets on an unpaid payment plan, and tickets on an order whose payment is disputed. Free tickets can be returned, with no money back. Listings end when the event starts; unsold tickets come back to their seller.
8. Auctions
- Organizers may sell some tickets by auction. Each auction shows its rules: quantity, reserve, minimum raise, and end time.
- To bid, you save a card. A bid is a binding offer to buy at that price if you win. Bids in the final minutes may extend the end time, so everyone can respond.
- The highest bids at or above the reserve win, ties going to the earlier bid. Depending on the auction, winners pay their own bid or the lowest winning bid, plus our fee.
- Winners must pay within the time shown (usually 24 hours). If a winner doesn't, the ticket passes to the next highest bidder at their own bid, and the first winner loses it.
- Auction tickets resell on the exchange at the event's face value, not the winning bid.
9. Giveaways
- Giveaways are free to enter. No purchase is necessary, and buying doesn't improve your chances. One entry per person (and per email address).
- Each giveaway shows its prize (free tickets, or the right to buy tickets at a stated price), the number of winners, and when it closes.
- Draws are random and verifiable: when a giveaway is created we publish a fingerprint of its random seed, and after the draw we publish the seed and the full ranking, so anyone can check the result.
- Free tickets are issued to winners straight away. A winner of a right to buy must buy within the time shown (usually 48 hours), or it passes to the next person in the draw.
- Giveaways are void where prohibited. The organizer running a giveaway may publish official rules, which apply along with these terms.
10. Group purchases
- One fan can start a group purchase for a block of seats and share a link, so friends each pay their own share.
- Each member's card is authorized (held, not charged) when they join. Cards are charged only if the group fills, or reaches its minimum, by its deadline (at most 96 hours). Otherwise nobody is charged and the holds are released.
- Each member pays their own seats plus our fee, and gets their own tickets.
11. Payment plans
Where an organizer offers it, you can pay for an order over time:
- For events at least 21 days away, on orders of $20.00 or more.
- A deposit of 25% at checkout, then the rest in up to 3 equal payments every 14 days, the last at least 7 days before the event. You see every date and amount before you pay.
- No interest and no plan fee. You authorize us to charge your card on each date.
- Your tickets arrive with the deposit and work at the door, but can't be transferred, resold or refunded through Aventix until you've paid in full.
- You can pay the next payment or the whole balance early, with any card, from your account.
- We remind you 3 days before each payment. If one fails, we try again 1, 3 and 5 days after it was due and tell you each time. If the last try fails, the order is cancelled, the tickets stop working, and we refund what you paid minus a default fee of 5% of the order total (never more than you paid).
- If the event is cancelled or the organizer refunds the order, everything you've paid comes back with no fee.
12. Refunds
Refunds follow our refund policy. In short: Tickets are refunded in full, automatically, to the card that paid if the event is cancelled. If the event moves more than a day later, buyers can take a full refund for 30 days (or until the new date). Otherwise tickets are not refundable, but buyers can resell them at face value on the Aventix exchange (the seller is refunded when the new buyer pays) or transfer them to someone else for free.
13. Emails, texts and notifications
- Service messages. We email you about your orders and tickets: receipts, tickets, transfers, changes, cancellations and refunds. These can't be turned off while you hold tickets, because you need them.
- Notifications. In the app and the browser, you choose which kinds of notifications you get in Notification settings.
- Texts. If you add a phone number, you agree to: "Texts from Aventix about tickets you hold and events you're going to: changes, cancellations, reminders and resale offers. Up to 10 a day. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel, HELP for help." Reply STOP to any text to stop them, and START to resume. Consent isn't a condition of buying.
- Organizers' emails. If you tick the box at checkout, the event's host can email you about future events. Every such email has an unsubscribe link. Ticking it isn't required to buy.
15. Rules for using Aventix
When you use Aventix, you must not:
- Use bots, scripts, multiple accounts, or other people's identities or cards to buy tickets, join lines or waitlists, enter giveaways, or get round limits.
- Buy tickets mainly to resell them for profit, or resell tickets above face value where the law forbids it.
- Copy, forge or tamper with tickets, QR codes, wallet passes or wristbands.
- Scrape, overload, probe or break into Aventix, or get round any security or rate limit. (If you find a security problem, please tell us at [legal contact email]; we welcome good-faith reports.)
- Inflate an event's page views or sales, or misuse tracking links.
- Harass, threaten or deceive anyone, including our support team.
- Use Aventix for anything illegal, or to sell anything other than access to real events.
- Dispute a payment you made and benefited from, instead of asking us for a refund you're owed.
We may cancel orders and tickets obtained by breaking these rules, and refund them. See also Suspension and closing accounts.
16. For organizers
Sections 16 to 19 apply to anyone who runs an organization on Aventix ("organizer"): artists and creators, venues and promoters. They apply to the organization, and to each team member who acts for it.
- Your organization. Give accurate details. You're responsible for who you add to your team and the role you give them (owner, admin, manager or staff); they can act for your organization within that role.
- Your events. You're responsible for every event you create or host: that it happens as described, that you have every license, permit, insurance and right needed (including for music and performers), that the venue and capacity are safe and lawful, that you follow accessibility law, and that you honor every valid ticket.
- Accurate listings. Describe events truthfully: date, time, place, lineup, age limits and what a ticket includes. Set capacity no higher than you can admit.
- Changes and cancellations. If an event is cancelled, cancel it on Aventix, so every buyer is refunded. If it moves, change the date on Aventix: moving it more than 24 hours later gives buyers a refund window of 30 days. Tell us about other material changes. You can't stop refunds our refund policy gives buyers.
- Pricing. You set ticket prices. Our fee is 5% of the ticket price + $0.49 per ticket for tickets of $100.00 or less, and 4.9% + $0.59 per ticket above that, and for auctions also 5% of any amount above face value, paid by you. You choose per event whether buyers pay our fee (the default) or you absorb it. You may not add your own fees at checkout or at the door for an Aventix ticket.
- Partners. A host can add partners (a venue, promoter or creator) with a share of an event's net sales. Once tickets have sold, an accepted partner's share can't be changed. Promoters see reports and tracking links, not the host's buyer list.
- Affiliates. An owner or admin can attach a commission to a tracking link. Commissions are paid from your share, only on paid, unrefunded, undisputed sales through that link.
- Transfer laws. At venues in states that require tickets to be transferable, you can't turn transfers off. You're responsible for any other law on ticket sales where your events take place.
- Taxes. You're responsible for taxes on your ticket sales and payouts. Our payment processor may ask for tax details and issue tax forms.
17. Organizer payouts
- Getting paid. Payouts go through Stripe Connect. To receive them, you set up a Stripe account and agree to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement. Stripe verifies your identity and holds your bank details.
- What you earn is your share of each event's face value from paid orders, minus our fees you've chosen to absorb and any auction fee, net of refunds and chargebacks. Orders on payment plans count once they're paid in full.
- When. By default, we pay you 72 hours after the event starts.
- Early payouts. If you turn them on and qualify, we pay you weekly as tickets sell, minus a reserve held until 72 hours after the event:
- new: 50% held back. A verified payout account.
- established: 25% held back. At least 1 completed event with a real audience (25+ outside buyers, most tickets scanned at the door), and chargebacks under 1% of sales.
- trusted: 15% held back. At least 5 such events, $10,000 paid out from them, and chargebacks under 0.5% of sales.
- Refunds and chargebacks after a payout. If money goes back to buyers after you've been paid (an organizer refund, a cancellation, a postponement refund, a chargeback), we take your share of it back from your next payouts or by reversing earlier transfers. If that isn't enough, you owe us the difference and agree to repay it on request. A chargeback's amount comes out of your share; we contest chargebacks with the order's evidence.
- Holding payouts. We may delay or hold payouts while we investigate suspected fraud, a high rate of refunds or chargebacks, an event that may not happen, or a breach of these terms, for as long as reasonably needed.
18. Organizers and fan data
- What you get. As host, you see your events' attendees (to admit them and help them) and, for buyers who agreed at checkout, their email for marketing. Partners see aggregate reports, not the host's fans.
- Your responsibilities. For the fan information you receive, you're an independent controller (or "business") under privacy law, and responsible for using it lawfully. Use attendee information only to run the event and help attendees. Email only fans who agreed, honor every unsubscribe (we add an unsubscribe link and record opt-outs), and follow anti-spam law. Keep exported data secure and delete it when you no longer need it.
- Don't sell fans' information, or use it to discriminate, harass or build profiles for others.
- Fan emails sent through Aventix are limited to 1,000 recipients per 30 days on the Free plan and 25,000 on Pro.
- Ad platforms. If you connect Meta, TikTok or Google Ads (Pro), we send them purchases from your events with the buyer's email hashed, except for buyers who opted out of sharing. You're responsible for your agreements with those platforms and for your own privacy notices about your ads.
19. The Pro plan
- Pro costs $99.00 per organization per month, plus any tax. It renews monthly until you cancel, and you authorize us (through Stripe) to charge your card each month.
- Pro is included at no charge while your organization's sales over the last 30 days exceed $25,000.00. If you're also subscribed, you get a credit for that month instead.
- Cancel any time from your organization's billing page; Pro stays on until the end of the period you've paid for. We don't refund partial months, except where the law requires it.
- If a payment fails, we keep Pro on while Stripe retries, then return you to the Free plan.
- We may change Pro's price or features with at least 30 days' notice. A price change applies from your next renewal after that notice.
- Aventix for Claude. If you connect Claude (by Anthropic) to your organization, it acts with your permissions, gets aggregate data (never fans' names or emails) and changes things only with your go-ahead. You're responsible for changes you approve. Anthropic's own terms apply to your use of Claude.
20. Content and intellectual property
- You keep ownership of what you put on Aventix: event descriptions, images, profiles and messages. You give us a worldwide, royalty-free license to host, show, copy, adapt (for example, resize) and share it to run and promote Aventix and your events, for as long as it's on Aventix and for a reasonable time after.
- You promise you have the rights to what you post, and that it isn't unlawful, misleading or infringing. We may remove content that breaks these terms.
- Aventix itself (the software, design, name and logos) belongs to us and our licensors. You may use it as these terms allow, nothing more. If you send us feedback, we may use it freely.
- If you think something on Aventix infringes your copyright or trademark, write to [legal contact email] with the details.
21. Services from others
Aventix relies on others for some things: Stripe for payments, Apple and Google for wallets and app stores, and mobile carriers for texts. Their terms apply to your use of their services, and we aren't responsible for them. Links to other sites are for convenience; we don't control them.
22. Changes
- We improve Aventix all the time, and may add, change or remove features.
- We may update these terms. If a change matters, we'll tell you by email or in Aventix at least 30 days before it takes effect, unless it's needed sooner for legal or security reasons. Changes don't apply to tickets bought before them where they'd make things worse for you. If you keep using Aventix after a change, you accept it; if you don't accept it, stop using Aventix (and organizers can close their organization).
23. Suspension and closing accounts
- You can stop using Aventix at any time, and ask us to close your account at Help. Tickets you hold stay valid unless you ask us to cancel them.
- We may suspend or close an account, cancel orders or tickets, or remove an event, if we reasonably believe it breaks these terms or the law, puts others at risk, or exposes us to fraud or liability. Where we can, we'll tell you why and give you a chance to respond. Buyers of a removed event are refunded under the refund policy.
- When an organizer's account closes, we still pay out what it has earned and refund buyers of events that won't happen. Sections that by their nature should survive (payments owed, licenses already used, disclaimers, liability, disputes) survive.
24. Disclaimers
We work hard to keep Aventix fast, available and correct, especially during on-sales. But Aventix is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we don't promise it will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free, and we disclaim implied warranties such as merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't run events and aren't responsible for an organizer's event, its content, or what happens at it, except as our refund policy says. Nothing here limits rights you have by law that can't be limited.
25. Limits on liability
- To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill, or for travel, accommodation or other costs around an event.
- Our total liability to you for any claim about Aventix is limited to the greater of what you paid us (our fees, for fans; our fees and Pro charges, for organizers) in the 12 months before the claim, and $100.00. For a claim about a ticket, it's also at least what you paid for that ticket.
- These limits don't apply to fraud, gross negligence, wilful misconduct, death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or anything else the law doesn't let us limit.
26. Indemnity
If someone brings a claim against us because of your event (if you're an organizer), content you posted, or your breach of these terms or the law, you'll cover our reasonable losses and costs, including legal fees. We'll tell you promptly about the claim and let you help defend it. This doesn't apply to the extent the claim was caused by us.
27. Disputes
- Most problems are solved fastest at Help. Before starting any formal claim, please contact us there or at [legal contact email], and give us 30 days to try to resolve it.
- These terms are governed by the laws of [governing law, e.g. the State of Delaware], without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes go to [courts for disputes], except that either of us may bring a claim in small-claims court where it qualifies.
- If you're a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws where you live, and may bring claims in your local courts where those laws allow.
28. General
- These terms, with the policies they refer to, are the whole agreement between you and us about Aventix.
- If any part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- If we don't enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- You can't transfer your rights under these terms without our consent. We may transfer ours to a company that takes over Aventix, and will tell you if we do.
- We aren't responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, such as outages at our providers, but we'll still refund what our refund policy promises.
- We can send you notices by email or in Aventix. Send notices to us at [legal contact email].
- Headings are for convenience. "Including" means "including, without limitation".
29. Contact
[legal entity name], [registered address]. Email: [legal contact email]. Help: aventix support, answered by a person within 1 hour for an event in the next 48 hours and 8 hours otherwise.
14. Friends, follows and profiles
